We invite you to attend the White Tie and Tails Doggie Prom 2011! Andrew the Great Maltese, star of CBS' Greatest American Dog and Pup 'N Iron Canine Fitness & Learning Center is rolling out the red carpet for this one-of-a-kind event on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 6-9pm.  We are pleased to extend hand and paw to dog lovers and their canine companions for a festive benefit to raise money for homeless and orphaned animals in care of the United Maltese Rescue, Inc.  At the White Tie and Tails prom you and your pets can trip the light fantastic, strut your stuff and flaunt your tuxes, tails and tiaras as you enjoy music, hors doerves, a "Muttini bar," entertainment, raffles, and silent auction.  The highlight of the evening will be selection of a prom queen to sit beside prom king Andrew!  And it wouldn't be a prom without a memento prom picture to make this truly an evening you will never forget.  Each human and pet guest will leave with a complimentary doggy gift bag and memories to last a liftetime!

Event Mission:
Since the summer of 2000, United Maltese Rescue, Inc. has been dedicated to the rescue of Maltese and Maltese crosses of all ages in need of new homes with loving families in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Unfortunately, because of their small size and appealing perpetual “puppy look,” Maltese are one of the most popular breeds among puppy mills and pet stores.  Pup ‘N Iron LLC enthusiastically lends Andrew’s celebrity status and popularity in support of UMR by hosting this festive celebration and fundraiser featuring celebrity dogs, a doggie couture fashion show, silent auction, raffles, food, drink, photographic services, fun and games, with 100% of the proceeds going to United Maltese Rescue, Inc.

Why support the United Maltese Rescue, Inc.?
United Maltese Rescue, Inc. is a non profit 501 (c) 3 organization supported solely by volunteers and donations. In addition to providing foster homes and general care, rescues often come to UMR with a variety of health problems, sometimes life threatening, and requiring immediate veterinary care. Without hesitation, UMR has dedicated itself to provide these services for all rescues in need.  These veterinary costs must be paid at the time the services are rendered, and customarily UMR is not extended any discounts.  This places a heavy financial burden on the organization.  Simply put, your support will ultimately help save lives.

The need is critical:

* Thousands of homeless Maltese and Maltese crosses are listed on Petfinder.com at this very moment
* Many suffer from illness related to neglect, abuse and improper care
* Maltese are among the top 5 breeds most likely to be found in puppy mills
